ABIC Aesthetic Menopause Committee

Leading the future of Menopause Aesthetics in Australia

Redefining care. Raising standards. Protecting women.

The Aesthetic and Beauty Industry Council (ABIC) has launched the Aesthetic Menopause Division, a national first. This new Division will pioneer and protect the emerging specialisation known as Menopause Aesthetics, a term coined by ABIC to define the intersection between menopause support and aesthetic, dermal, and beauty practice.

With rising demand from women experiencing hormonal changes and the increase in services being marketed to this demographic, now is the time to lead with integrity. ABIC is building this division to ensure that menopause-related aesthetic care is grounded in ethics, evidence, and client-centred professionalism, not hype or opportunism.

We are committed to creating a safe, structured, and credible path forward that benefits both practitioners and the women they serve.

Why Now?

Across Australia, women in midlife are increasingly turning to aesthetic clinics, skin therapists, beauty practitioners, and wellness experts for help managing the visual and emotional effects of menopause. But this surge in demand has led to:

  • Misleading advertising claims targeting vulnerable clients
  • Unqualified individuals calling themselves “menopause experts”
  • Opportunistic rebranding of treatments as “menopause solutions” without scientific basis
  • Growing risk of public mistrust, media scrutiny, and government regulation

Rather than wait for external regulation, ABIC is acting now, taking pre-emptive responsibility to set the standards ourselves through a dedicated division and a professional committee of experienced leaders.

What the Division Will Do

This Division will set the national benchmark for safe, ethical, and evidence-informed menopause-focused aesthetic care. It will:

  • Define and lead the emerging category of Menopause Aesthetics
  • Develop a Code of Conduct for Ethical Advertising and Promotion in menopause services
  • Establish Best Practice Guidelines for consultations, referrals, and treatment in beauty, dermal and medical aesthetic settings
  • Create endorsed Education and Certification Pathways for practitioners seeking menopause-focused specialisation
  • Collaborate with qualified menopause health professionals to support cross-disciplinary care
  • Contribute to public campaigns that empower women and raise awareness of safe aesthetic options
  • Provide the industry with a framework for self-regulation that safeguards access to education and treatment, and minimises the need for external intervention

We will do this through the formation of a Menopause Aesthetics Committee operating under this Division.
