THE VALUE OF KEEPING UP
The world of beauty and aesthetics is constantly changing, with new trends and technologies emerging every day. It is crucial for industry professionals to stay up to date with the latest techniques and tools, and to constantly update their skills. One common question that I get asked as a facilitator is whether outdated or overseas qualifications can be used in the industry. As a peak body representing this industry, we always recommend best practices. One of the best ways for individuals to upskill and remain part of the industry is through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). For individuals with outdated qualifications, RPL can be a pathway to upgrading their skills and obtaining current qualifications. For overseas-trained professionals, RPL can provide a pathway to gaining recognition for their skills and knowledge in a new country. Through RPL, they can demonstrate their competence and gain recognition for their skills. By staying up to date with the latest trends and technology, professionals can provide their clients with the highest quality service possible. To support our members, I'd like to draw attention to our resource library, which contains useful resource on the Australian Qualifications Framework theabic.org.au/resources

Facilitator Observation
Through observing industry trends and engaging with our members. There has been a change in consumer demand. Consumers are leaning towards a holistic approach to beauty. This has caused a surge in the development of new treatments and courses being developed. Quite a substantial number of our members have inquired about upskilling, whether it is learning new treatment techniques or becoming trainers in their field. This is great for our industry, as it encourages professionals to stay competitive and relevant in the industry. We at ABIC are always there to support and guide our members.
