Don’t regret something that once made you smile – if once it felt good, was good however didn’t end so good, hold no resentment or regret, remember it for the good times, the lessons and the blessings, as they say every cloud has a silver lining, always look for it.
This too shall pass – the bad, the ugly and sadly sometimes even the good; be patient, be strong, keep the faith and know one day you will look back on the hard times not just as a memory, but hopefully a learning too.
Own your own happiness – make conscious choices to cultivate happiness from within by prioritising self-love, pursuing your goals, finding joy in the people you spend your time with and everyday life. Take responsibility for your emotional well-being and your mindset and don’t leave it to others to influence it. Or control it.
It’s not what you leave your children it’s what you leave in them – a parents most valuable and enduring legacy is not material possessions, rather character, values and morals they instil in their children. If we equip them with a strong sense of integrity, resilience and moral guidance they will be able to succeed on their own, regardless of financial inheritance. If you leave enough in them, they can make their own life.
If you can change it, change it and if you can’t accept it, and move on – too many people focus on the problem, get stuck in the problem and procrastinate taking some form of action to solve it. If a problem can be fixed, a matter can be resolved then move to make the change and if it can’t, if it’s bigger than you or out of your control then simply move on and stop giving your valuable time and effort to the impossible.
Every action has a consequence – in business it is critical to consider the consequence of every action, remembering that what may sound like a great idea right here and now may result in challenging or negative consequences that may have been avoided if the situation was assessed with the end in mind.
Don’t let anyone dilute your dreams - follow your own path unapologetically , everybody has an opinion but not everyone is running a successful business. Be open to ideas, feedback , criticism, but in the end, believe in your strategy, execution and ability, you didn’t get to where you are by taking on everyone’s feedback or opinions
The answer is always yes, on a win-win basis – Pay rise? Yes. Free stock? Yes. Promotion? Yes. Unexpected week off? Yes …. Everything is possible just as long as both parties are winning. If I give you a pay rise, free stock, the promotion you dream of, extended holiday , what will the business get in return? All successful relationships depend on both parties winning long term.
It needs to make “good skin and good business sense” - be clear about your business goals. For me an opportunity needs to cover two distinct goals, it needs to make good skin science sense, it can’t be a fad, something going viral on TikTok or being promoted by an influencer, it needs to be scientifically credible and evidence based, yet at the same time it needs to be financially viable and profitable, one without the other is not a recipe for success.
Don’t be afraid to lead with the heart - Blend heart with head, leading with heart is not about abandoning strategy; it's about blending it with empathy and connection to avoid a "no head, no heart" imbalance. People come before policies, that’s not to say policies aren’t critical rather to emphasise its important the policies support the people and put them first.
